  • Some things don’t live together for a reason

    Increasingly, there’s been a sweeping move by which countless companies attempt to shove any/all social media into one place.  Simplify.  Aggregate.  Combine.

    We have distinct web entities for a reason — if these things were meant to live together, our notion of the web would have evolved very differently in the first place.  Our abstract notions of space and (even more importantly) time on the web, I think, are more important than these services give them credit for.  The important move (as it so often is) is going to be the one that proves this idea wrong.  I’m excited.
